ICA August Conducting Masterclass 2025 Manchester & London | Led by Jonathan Mann with follow-up by Colin Metters
The International Conducting Academy is now accepting applications for its flagship two-part masterclass: an immersive, performance-focused training programme designed for advanced and emerging conductors serious about developing their craft at the highest level.
Part I: Manchester Intensive | 4–9 August 2025
Led by Jonathan Mann, ICA Director, this six-day course provides hands-on, in-depth training in a professional environment. Participants will work intensively on Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances (Iain Farrington arrangement) through:
One day of silent conducting – refining gesture and clarity without sound
Three full days with two professional pianists for detailed rehearsal work
Two days of orchestral sessions with the acclaimed NEW Sinfonia
High-quality video recordings filmed at the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall, University of Manchester
Zoom preparation sessions on 30, 31 July & 1 August
Part II: Follow-Up in London | Dates TBC All participants will receive a two-day follow-up masterclass with Colin Metters, ICA Artistic Consultant and Senior Tutor, at Craxton Studios, London. This session builds on the summer course, providing further one-to-one tuition, technical refinement, and professional feedback. Also included: a follow-up Zoom session with both tutors.
