Virtual Courses 2025

ICA Virtual Conducting Intensives – Autumn 2025

Renewed. Focused. Transformational.

Following the success of previous virtual programmes, ICA launches a newly refined format for Autumn 2025: two immersive weekend intensives, each focused on a single cornerstone of the orchestral repertoire.

Led by Jonathan Mann (ICA Director) and joined by Colin Metters (ICA Artistic Consultant and Senior Tutor), these courses offer a rich and collaborative space for conductors to develop skills in score interpretation, silent conducting, and musical communication—with the depth and structure of an in-person course, delivered online.

“ICA is not formulaic to chase a brand of conducting. Jonathan Mann has curated a learning experience tailored to each participant.”
— ICA Virtual Participant

What Makes This Different

This is not a webinar or passive series of lectures. It’s a high-engagement, high-trust environment. Participants are expected to prepare and present themselves as they would in front of a live orchestra.

* Come fully prepared with the score
* Dress and present yourself professionally
* Be ready to work, explore, question, and grow

“Here, it’s safe to try, to be vulnerable and to grow.”
— ICA Virtual Participant

Course Dates and Repertoire

October 3–5, 2025
Beethoven: Symphony No. 7
Explore tempo relationships, internal pulse, and long-line phrasing in one of Beethoven’s most vital and rhythmically charged works.

December 12–14, 2025
Elgar: Enigma Variations
A conductor’s gift for nuance, colour, and character. Deepen your understanding of orchestral detail, expressive pacing, and ensemble storytelling.
