Virtual Courses 2025

January - June 2025

‘Beethoven Part 1’

  • Symphonies 1 - 5
  • Coriolan, Egmont and Fidelio Overtures
  • Aural Training & Musicianship Skills with Irina Walters
  • Beyond the Baton with Chris Clark

“Jonathan Mann knew exactly how to help me improve, and it was a pleasure to learn in such a supportive environment. The silent conducting was particularly useful.”

“ICA is not formulaic to chase a brand of conducting. Jonathan Mann has curated a learning experience tailored to each participant.”

2025 will be spent exploring Beethoven’s symphonic output, music which should be at the core of every conductors repertoire.

Under the leadership of ICA Artistic Director Jonathan Mann, participants will spend time discussing the score in detail, listening critically from the conductor’s perspective to a selection of recordings and working through the medium of conducting in silence, a unique aspect of the ICA teaching philosophy.

Over six months we have also carefully integrated additional guest sessions on the following topics focusing on additional skills crucial for every conductor:

- Aural Training & Musicianship Skills with Irina Walters

- 'Beyond the Baton' with Chris Clark
  1. Commanding the Stage: Confidence On and Off the Podium
  2. The Conductor’s Voice: Guiding Musicians with Clarity and Purpose
  3. From Score to Story: Engaging Pre-Concert Talks
